A walk with stunning views in four directions in the delightful North Lakes countryside and surrounding fells, including views of Ullswater, Penrith, Great Mell Fell, Great Dodd, Clough Head, Naddles Crags, Blencathra and other more distant peaks. There’s an option near the end of the walk to walk up to the top of Little Mell Fell and enjoy the views from there. The walk is on footpaths, tracks and quiet minor roads, mostly with open views, and partly within woodland.

This walk with its wonderful views takes you on something of a switchback around Little Mell Fell from Watermillock, as you gradually climb and descend around the lower shoulders of this fell, which is an irregular circular shape. There are lovely views of the green fields around and of woods, surrounding fells and Lake Ullswater. In one part there is a large number of crab-apple trees along the track which were well-laden in October and the blossom should look good in the spring. Buzzards seemed to abound on a recent visit.

June 2013 - a very pleasant walk with more views than you'd expect.

Aug 2010 - a lovely walk, we also enjoyed the wild raspberries which grew along much of this route. The side-track up to the top of Little Mell Fell took about 25 minutes there and back and was well worth the effort.
