Starting at the top of the downs on the South Downs Way (SDW), you soon veer off south with grand views of the sea to curve along to the hills above the Litlington White Horse. An easy descent gets you to the pretty Cuckmere River. A not too strenuous ascent takes you close to the Long Man of Wilmington and then it's down to the village of Wilmington with its gastro-pub. A walk through fields and you're at Alfriston, from where you ascend on the SDW back to the car park. Details for extending the walk are given with Walk 3924.

As this is a figure-of-eight walk, it could be easily divided into two sections based on Afriston.

Walked on 27/7/2014. Stunning views over South Downs. Was a very hot day and exposed on top of hills. Well worth walking. Try the coffee shop in Alfriston. Superb home made cakes. Navigation good although tracked distance at 12.5 miles

Beautiful even on a damp day. Wind can be very strong. Says it has ascents of 1500m - don't think that is right, maybe around 250 in total.
