A beautiful meander in the vale between the majestic mountains of Whernside and Ingleborough. This is glorious cave and pothole country, so allow time to explore and to absorb the peaceful ambience. On the whole route there is the chance to study the many barns and farmsteads characteristic of the area.

Beware of doing this nice walk in wet weather! We did it recently after a lot of rain and the 'dry' riverbed off Philpin Lane was knee deep in quite fast flowing water. We diverted along Philpin Lane to head straight for waypoint 13. The ford there was too deep to cross, but fortunately the stream was narrow enough further up to leap across.
