The pretty village of Dent is the starting point of the walk, which quickly joins the Dales Way beside the River Dee. The river is followed before heading up towards the western end of the ridge leading to Aye Gill Pike. The summit is easily reached before the steep and at times puzzling descent back to Dentdale brings us to the valley and Dent Village.
