A steep climb from Dent Village gives access to a superb high-level walk for extensive views of both Dentdale and Deepdale. The return leg passes down through the heart of Deepdale for a truly unforgettable pastoral experience, finishing with a gentle stroll along the River Dee.

walk done 19 -05 -2018. Chris Collins Path at way mark 9 off bridleway is blocked off. Options:- 1. Down road to junction and pick up footpath to Tommy Bridge at Waymark 10 or 2. Continue farther down road and pick up dales Way there. Best parts of walk are the walk up out of Dent to start of high level track and the walk from 5 to 8 across fields - views not bad. Dropping down to 4 is depressing - hard graded track covered in compacted scree and with the characterless bulk of Whernside dominating at all times. Worst part is the Dales Way - very narrow rut for a path, wire fences to both sides, difficult when passing oncoming walkers, very little access to river, very little evidence of water in rivers. Not an attractive stretch of "water".

Did the walk 10/05/18. Beautiful walk on a fine day. Part of the rutted track at point 3 was very boggy and took some crossing but well worth it. The path at point 9 is completely blocked with metal fencing but its not a great problem. Just follow the road for 200 metres more and turn right at the next junction. Follow the road to the footpath sign for Billy's Bridge then follow the rest of the route. Worth every step!!

Did this walk in September 2010, enjoyed it and don't remember any problems with the route. Did the walk again in August 2013 and again enjoyed it but had to go from points 9 to 10 via the lane as the route through the farm had been made as hard as possible to follow due to gates being tied up with poles placed to prevent them opening, etc so we doubled back and followed the lane.

Did this walk on 14 April 2010. Very enjoyable in the Spring Sunshine. Route description was very clear and accurate.
