This walk is largely through woodland. It starts and ends in the picturesque village of Friday Street and passes through Coldharbour, the highest village in Surrey and Leith Hill, which is Surrey's highest point.

Refreshments are available at Leith Hill's tower, every day apart from Christmas Day. There is a small charge to climb to the top of the tower (free to NT members). On a clear day the skyline of London can be seen from the new Wembley arch around to Canary Wharf, with all the sights of London in between. There are also extensive views to the south, including Gatwick Airport to the south-east. There are pubs in Coldharbour and Friday Street.

N.B: this is graded as a Moderate Walk as some sections, especially through woodland, may be tricky to navigate. A compass or GPS to accompany your map will help you on this walk. The descent after Waymark 4 could be quite difficult after wet weather and some people may find it difficult in good conditions.

Walked 10/10/2021. Directions and photos still current and such a lovely walk we continue to return year after year to re-walk it. Parking is free at the start in the large car park. Mainly woodland but some stunning views at Leith Hill make this a true gem. 10/10.

Excellent walk despite torrential Summer rain. Super directions and of good length. Coldharbour pub and cafe on Leith Hill. 10 year daughter and dog loved it too!

Walked 11/10/2020. A stunning walk with superb directions that were faultless. Really good distance, stunning woodland, great views and a lovely enchanted wood at the end part. The refreshments at Leith Hill are very busy at times but the views are stunning. Sadly, the Pub Stephan Langton looks like it has closed (either due to Covid or permanently). This is a great walk, highly recommended, well written and with no navigational problems. I can confirm this is also Livestock free and on paths defined by fences or on good well defined wide tracks. 10/10.

Excellent walk. Did this in the pouring rain today with OH. Lots of variety in the walk with woodland / open fields / small paths/ large bridleways. Agree with other comments that GPS is a great help after leaving the tower as it was fairly confusing to find the correct path. Will do this again when its a bit sunnier as zero visibility from the top of Leith hill today!

A good hill walk with some great views and wildlife. The tower was a bit too busy for our liking, we may do it again when the weather is not so good. We got lost on Wotton common after leaving the tower, but soon found our way again when we stumbled across the road. Thanks Norman.

Yet another great walk from Mr Lavender. Excellent directions (got a bit lost after the tower but our GPS led us the correct way, a tad difficult to follow the photos but easy once you are on the right path). Great colours this autumn made for a truly inspiring and rewarding woodland walk and splendid views at certain points. Not too long, not too short. A little muddy in places but adds to the fun. Overall 8/10. Well Done Norm!
