From Walltown Crags we follow the wall remains, passing through Aesica Roman Fort, then along Windshields Crags, Highshields Crags and Hotbank Crags to reach Housesteads Roman Fort; a very scenic section with plenty of wall remains to be seen along the way.

Our walk starts from Walltown Crags car park and takes us up past the pond onto Walltown Crags. The route then stays close to the wall as it follows the contours of the land down to Caw Gap, then up onto Windshield Crags where we reach the highest point on the Hadrian's Wall route.

Dropping down to Steel Rigg car park, we then climb steeply up onto Peel Crags, follow the wall as it runs alongside Crag Lough, then down to Hotbank before a steady climb back up to Hotbank Crags and Cuddy's Crags, where the Pennine Way leaves us to continue on its own route.

Up onto Housesteads Crags it's a short walk to the fort, where we leave the wall and finish at the information centre, for refreshments or a look around the fort before leaving.

A great walk - Hadrian's Wall is very impressive along this stretch. There is a lot of up and down on the walk so don't expect it to be flat!
