From Housesteads Roman Fort we follow the wall as it runs over Sewingshields Crags then down to the woods. With all the crags now behind us, we walk on through the fields to Brocolitia Roman Fort. Here the remains of the Mithraic temple can be seen, along with a few replicas of the original statues.

As we carry on we see less of the wall, following more the course of it as we descend to Chester Roman Fort. Here a museum shows articles found around this area, along with the story of the rediscovery and preservation of the wall. The remains of the Roman bridge can also be seen on the riverbank.

Crossing the river via the modern road-bridge, we follow the route up to St Oswalds, then across moorland and through woodland to reach the Errington Arms at Port Gate and the end of this section.
