This delightful and very easy to follow walk in County Durham's largest forest can be completed at any time of the year. The whole of the route lies within the confines of the largely uninhabited western part of the forest on clearly marked wide forest tracks.

The walk starts at the Grove car park located in the neck of the forest and initially closely follows a wide forest track as it runs upstream alongside the Spurlswood Beck in the southern part of the forest. The route intersects Blockling Hole, the site of a picturesque and popular waterfall. From here the route swings up the western side of the forest, where it rises to the highest point of the route at Five Lane Ends. Most of the final section is following the route as it heads east through the centre of the forest on a high panoramic track along the deep and wide valley of the Euden Beck to return to the Grove and the car park.
