This walk was originally contributed by Michael Vingoe. Walkingworld is very grateful to Stephen Harris for taking over the upkeep, July 2021.

The walk makes an exciting start by going through woodland towards the din of the M25 and the thrill of walking above it. Soon the noise recedes as we arrive at the top of the scarp slope of the North Downs, with views across the Weald as far as the South Downs. We continue through woodland and farmland to cross the open grasslands of Banstead Heath, where skylarks abound, to arrive at the remains of New Mill. Return to The Sportsman via a tiny 'secret' pub, The Bell, hidden in the woods.

Just completed in the April Sunshine. A really very pleasant 6 miles and easy navigation.

Walked 07.03.2021. This is quite a good walk in Surrey with some lovely views from point 8 onwards. Exercise caution at point 8, there were cattle in the field by the gate. They look quite used to humans but caution is always advised near them and keep dogs away. Point to note, after the gate at 8, turn immediately right to descend a little for great views. Direction updates have been sent in today so the walk should be up to date with new pictures. Pub is currently closed (7/3/21) due to Covid19 but there is a refreshment cabin serving drinks and snacks. Parking at the pub gets VERY busy even with it closed, you can park alongside the access road with consideration to other vehicles being able to pass. The walk is good, views are good, but there isn't that much to see once you get past point 11 but it's a great one to stretch your legs. It's about 7.5m in total. 8/10.
