Starting near the mouth of the River Adur on a shingle spit, you walk past a village of houseboats and stroll along the river. Visit the historical airport, then with Lancing College's Gothic chapel looming above you, walk onwards to a footbridge, once an important road route. There's a Grade 1-listed, 10th Century church and a couple of pubs before you walk back to town to see the High Street, a flint-built museum and the drawbridge. Excursions can be taken to see an old fort and houses made of railway carriages along the spit. There are plenty of pubs in town. The small Lazy Toad at the Westend has a reputation for good beers.
