This is a straightforward walk to follow and although it goes steadily uphill from the start, there is only one short, steep section. The views from the top are extensive, even extending, I am assured, to the house of the Walkingworld administrator many miles to the east. A stream accompanies you as you climb and two limekilns are passed, as well as a Bronze Age stone circle and the monument on the summit. There is the added advantage that most of the walk is on bridleways, so that there are fewer stiles than is usual.

Did this walk yesterday (8/1/11) having visited the Farmers Market in the morning. I have to say this is a little gem. Easy to follow walk description with many interesting points en route and wonderful views on reaching the monument. Ideal for children too but avoid in wet weather very boggy underfoot. Thankfully there had been a hard frost when we did it.
