This short walk on the outskirts of Kendal is most rewarding for, besides going through some beautiful countryside that has relatively few visitors, it includes an ascent of The Helm. This modest summit has a 360-degree panorama that includes almost the whole of Lakeland as well as Morecambe Bay and the Pennines. The walk is based on The Station Inn, which has extensive parking and which rounds off the day.

Good walk, which we did on 07/10/2020. After a wet end of September and beginning of October, we decided to do the walk in wellingtons; this was a good choice, particularly between points 10 and 11

4/30/2019 - Angela and Tom McCarthy

We did this walk on April 30th 2019. What a lovely walk it is too, taking us through beautiful quiet countryside. The bluebells through Bleasehall woods at waymark 12 were absolutely stunning. We have never seen such a glorious display. It is well worth the walk to see them. We were lucky that we had had such a dry spell as it may be quite muddy going through some of the fields.. Jim Grindle’s description of the route was excellent and was easy to follow. Thank you for another great walk Angela and Tom McCarthy
