The walk starts at the picturesque village of Shere. It covers a mixture of open countryside and woodland, with extensive views of surrounding countryside, including the North Downs. Refreshments are available in Shere, including a pub and tea rooms.
The 'general' photograph shows an especially pleasant section near the end of the walk where it follows open countryside with numerous ancient trees. The North Downs can be seen on the horizon.

If you want to take the shortcut at wm10 there is now a footbridge a short distance to the north east. After crossing this bridge turn left to reach the other side of the closed off crossing.

Walked 04.09.2021. This is such a lovely walk, our third or fourth time now and we love it every time. Shere car park does get busy at weekends so if you get chance, walking during the week may be a better option for those arriving by car. Directions are still spot on, but at point 10, the railway crossing for the short-cut was fenced off, not sure if this is permanent or temporary as during the walk today (4/9/21) the London to Brighton off road bike road was going through the area. A gem of a walk, highly recommended.

Walked 01.11.2020 A superb walk in a lovely part of Surrey. Directions spot on, easy to follow and you never really feel like you are far from civilisation yet far enough for this to be a grand walk. Great views, superb underfoot conditions (littly muddy this time of year) and some lovely views. 10/10 Thanks Norm! (only point to add, the car park at Shere gets very busy at weekends. Don't make the mistake of parking in the residents and sport club part, the car park is on the right as you come in from the village, don't park on the straight bit!).

A lovely walk, with accurate instructions, and several strategically-positioned benches to help walkers to enjoy the views of the Surrey Hills!

A new point of interest for this walk is that the film "Holiday" (with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jude Law) is using Shere as its "Set". Currently the rooves of the village are covered with fake snow and a complete cottage has been built for the set near WP05.

Absolutely splendid walk on a fine autumn day. The horses in the field (with the tree shown here) actually walked with us and stopped when we stopped! Superb walk and very well worth it.
