This walk commences from the site of an old Roman fort which you can visit either at the beginning or end of the walk. The walk continues through lovely, yet occasionally remote, countryside with excellent views of the Northumberland moors. Halfway round the walk you join the Pennine Way and follow the line of Hadrian's Wall with picturesque views over the escarpment, passing one of the highest points of the wall - Winshields Crags (345 metres). You also have the opportunity to view one of the most picturesque parts of the wall at Steel Rigg, returning via the visitors' centre at Once Brewed, or if you wish the public house at Twice Brewed. This walk gives different pleasures dependent on the time of the year.
