A mainly flat walk around the lanes and through the plantations and woods located around the pleasant village of Slaley. The plantation-walking is a delight and although almost half of the walk is on surfaced roads or lanes, most are almost traffic-free.

From Slaley Village the route heads south through fields to intersect the first of many quiet lanes encountered on the walk. The route passes through Slaley Hall Golf Course before intersecting a series of roads and plantations in equal measure. The last of the plantations includes an interesting, dense, steep-sided, wooded valley that is followed by a short length of road-walking with the final section rising gradually through fields to return to Slaley Village.
