From the Walkers' Station near Southease, walk straight up onto the downs and enjoy fine views of the Ouse Valley, with Lewes at one end and the harbour at Newhaven at the other. Walk down again and return alongside the River Ouse. This walk is a fine mix of typical downland followed by river and marshland, accompanied by the appropriate birdlife.

Update 2019: alas, the singing gate is no more and has been replaced.
