The River Adur is rather sterile along much of its lower reaches, but just below the hamlet of Wineham it is rarely visited and in a much more natural state than most people are used to. Reedbeds are present and watch out for kingfishers.

The walk can be extended by half an hour or so to include at the halfway point The Bull Inn, where pizzas are served. But the shorter version may be preferable, as the return journey involves walking along lanes rather than footpaths and some may find the lanes too drawn out if taking the longer route.

The Royal Oak at the start is my favourite pub hereabouts.
