A great, mainly moorland walk in the hills to the south west of Consett. This easy to follow ramble comprises a mix of terrain including moors, fields, lanes and also includes a little under two miles of road walking on a minor road with virtually no traffic. The route reveals outstanding views of the surrounding hills from most parts of the walk.

From the car park at the old Waskerley Station the route heads south up the moor to enter Open Access Land where the route intersects and follows the southern edge of a large coniferous wood. From the wood the walk continues south east through rough pastures before changing direction and heading north up a long straight quiet minor road. On leaving the road the route enters a very pleasant lane with great views of the surrounding countryside to intersect and cross a popular railway path. The route continues to descend through a farming hamlet to intersect a metalled road. After a short road walk the route passes through a pleasant gill before rising up into open fields. Flat field walking follows before the walk intersects an old railway incline to return back to Waskerley. There are parts of this walk that can be pretty muddy especially after prolonged rain.
