Whilst this walk does not climb any spectacular hills or visit any picture-postcard lakes, it does feature a wide variety of landscapes: old railway lines; rolling pasture; working farms and woodland areas. To add to this, most of the way round you are treated to panoramic views of Derwentside and the Wear Valley.
Whilst not massively great in length, there are some fairly tricky sections - especially in muddy conditions - which make for the 'moderate' rating; all things considered, a very enjoyable walk!

Please note that Point 13 has been amended with agreement by Durham County Council. Details are included with full details just before you pass through the gate. Basically you no longer go through the farm but traverse down the left hand side of the farm and then pass through a new wooden gate and then head back up to the track/road that emerges from the farm to take you to the main road. Hope this helps everybody in case you miss the notice.
