A delightful walk from Westgate, closely following the River Wear and passing the villages of Daddry Shield, St John's Chapel and Ireshopeburn, ending up in the small village of Cowshill. Along this section the river at times is quite spectacular with low waterfalls, ending at Cowshill with a 30ft waterfall just at the entrance to the village. It is an easy, delightful walk for all seasons.
