A walk along the White Scar at the southern end of Whitbarrow, taking in the Hervey Nature Reserve, then onto the highest point, Lord's Seat with its elegant rounded cairn. There are fantastic views over Morecambe Bay and really interesting rock formations all the way up.

This is a good walk on the way in to the Lakes from the south, or on the way out. It's relatively quick to do but very quickly takes in some fantastic features such as the White Scar and the limestone scars in the Hervey Nature Reserve. As well as views of Morecambe Bay you can see the Lake District fells and the Howgills to the north and east.

The return is through the delightful Whitbarrow Nature Reserve on woodland paths and tracks.

Stonking Walk The postcode for the start is LA8 8EU. You only reach just over 700ft but there are outstanding views of Morecambe Bay and the Fells. Fantastic for geology, botany and birds with a good variety of habitat. Some of the tracks are not on the OS map, so you do need to follow the instructions which thankfully are very good! Amongst others – bullfinch, blackcap, chiff chaff, buzzard, skylark, meadow pipit, corvids, etc. Being on top of the fells is fantastic but this is a great round too! Enjoy!!
